CDP News: Apr. 21, 2017
Welcome to this week’s edition of CDP News! We like to use this space to review recent happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology, while also looking ahead to upcoming events. It’s feeling like spring here at the CDP headquarters in Maryland and we hope the same can be said for your neighborhood.
On Tuesday, we held our monthly CDP Presents, “Building Military Family Resilience”. If you missed it, don’t worry! We’ll be posting a recording on the event next week. You’ll be able to find it in the CDP Presents section of our website. Also, next week, you’ll be able to begin to sign up for May’s CDPP, “Working with LGB Service Members and Veterans,” which will be held on the 23rd. In the meantime, check out the all of the past CDPP webinars we’ve got available. There are a ton of great options to check out.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, our training staff visited Oregon as part of the Star Behavioral Health Providers (SBHP) program. You can learn more about this program and find out if it’s available in your state, by visiting our SBHP page.
Running today and tomorrow, we’ll be holding our Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) training in Second Life. We’re trying something a bit different this time around, with having a training partially on the weekend. If you’d like to see more events like this, make sure you let us know. We’re always looking for ways to expand the audiences for our events! Coming up next, we’ll be holding an online Cognitive Processing Therapy for Depression (CBT-D) training on 17-18 May. If you’d like to be notified via email when registration for this and future online training events begins, please complete the form here.
Speaking about online training events, next week the CDP will be attending the ATA telehealth conference in Orlando, FL. We’re looking forward to being able to share everything we’ve learned about online, distance learning, as well as hearing about other advancements in the field. If you’re going to be there, come by the CDP booth and check things out. We’d love to talk to you!
It was a very special week in the CDP Blog, as April marks the official fifth anniversary of the CDP blog! We’re very excited that we’ve been able to continue to bring the latest in statistics, research, information, and columns from CDP staff and guest writers. To look back over the almost 1,000 posts we’ve had over the run of the blog, our Deputy Director, Dr. Bill Brim, wrote about the history and highlights of the CDP blog. It’s been a great five years and we look forward to keeping things going strong. Also, don’t forget to check out this week’s Research Update. It’s packed with all the latest news, journal articles and useful links from around the Web.
That’s about it for this week. Have a great weekend everyone. Come back and see us here on Monday for a new entry in our “By the Numbers” column.
