Once again it’s Friday and time for our weekly wrap-up of events in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology, CDP News. First up, today marks the end of our 2013 Southwest Regional 1-Week training in Phoenix. From all reports, it’s been a great week for both presenters and participants. I know our presenters enjoy the opportunity to get out and work directly with behavioral health providers in the community.Hopefully, all of the participants learned a lot of great information that they can use in their efforts to treat Service Members and Veterans as well.

Happy Friday everyone! Let's celebrate it with another edition of CDP News and take a look at the latest happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology. It was a bit of a short week, but that didn't slow us down much. First up, we just opened up registration for our first week-long training of the year. "Addressing the Psychological Needs of Warriors and Their Families" will be held March 11-15 in Phoenix, AZ. Space in these training events is limited, so if you're interested, register today! It's the first one of the year, but we'll be adding additional locations as our training schedule finalizes, so keep checking back.
Welcome to this week's CDP News update. We recently received a nice bit of attention for a new panel we implemented in the last iteration of our "Topics in Deployment Psychology" course. There's a great article here talking about the panel which focused on "the mental well-being of deployed gay and lesbian service members". The four-member panel talked about a variety of LBGT issues related to the military. It's a very important topic and we were pleased to be able to incorporate a discussion on it into our training. It was quite well received and we look forward to hosting it again in future iterations.
