The percentage of female Veterans in a sample group using Veterans Health Administration primary care who "reported symptoms of insomnia that resulted in functional impairment," according to a research abstract presented at SLEEP 2016, the 30th Anniversary Meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies LLC (APSS). The research, cited in an APSS press release, indicated that less than 1% of this group "had a diagnosis of a sleep disorder based on medical records."

These data points come from a recently released brief by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality -- Adults with Less Education Most Likely to Have a Past Year Anxiety Disorder (PDF).

The percentage of military personnel ("members of the Uniformed Services") who "exit their service before 20 years," thus leaving with no retirement benefits, according to a recent DOD report to Congress -- Blended Retirement System: Report to Congress – Implementation Plan for Modernizing the Military Retirement System (PDF). To ameliorate this situation, the Fiscal Year 2016 National Defense Authorization Act mandates that the Secretaries of the Uniformed Services submit to Congress "plans to implement a modernized retirement system effective January 1, 2018."
