The percentage of active duty Service men and women who reported experiencing a sexual assault in 2016 who said that the assault happened at a "military location," according to a new report from the Congressional Research Service, Military Sexual Assault: A Framework for Congressional Oversight. Additionally, 12% of women and 18% of men said the assault occurred "while at an official military function." According to the report:

Research suggests that workplace culture is important in sexual assault prevention. While not all military assaults happen in the workplace, attitudes that are fostered in the workplace can influence Service members’ off-duty actions.
